ghostsinwinterfell replied to your post: I do not like Gregor Clegane.
tbh i don’t really feel bad about laughing at the fanfic of someone who MADE EXCUSES AS TO WHY GREGOR RAPED ELIA AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS TOTALLY OK. You may disagree but yeah…I can’t with that.I’m not telling you not to laugh at it. I’m telling you not to make passive aggressive posts about it. I’m telling you not to pass it around and chuckle and create an atmosphere that supports bullying the girl who posted it.
If you want to have a discussion as to why it is WRONG to be a Gregor apologist, fine. Do that. Organize your thoughts and write that essay. I don’t think it’s okay to reblog it and say “OMFG this girl is so stupid” or “LOL what the fuck is wrong with her”. That is bullying. That is passive aggressive. That makes you awful.
If I reblogged something and put a bitchy comment every time I saw an opinion in this fandom that made me think, “Alright, well, this person is clearly an idiot and/or made of mental illness” that is all my blog would be. I would have no time to enjoy myself. But I’m not a child. I see something, disagree with it/get offended by it, but before I allow my emotions to sputter out and certainly before I hit a reblog button, tag something, write a comment, copy/paste, etc, etc, I ask myself if it is ACTUALLY harming anyone.
The answer is generally no.
You know what? I’m not even going to make tags for this.
She put it online. She put it up for discussion. It was discussed. It was evaluated in a way that you don’t agree with.
She had a sucky opinion so we called her out. It’s not like we flooded her website with mean nasty comments and told her she sucked and she should go die. No. We did not do that. We commented on a product that she disseminated online. She should have expected— ESPECIALLY with the character she is writing about— that fandom—ESPECIALLY female fandom on tumblr/twitter/etc— would rip it apart. Imo. Not having those expectations is dumb, to be quite honest.
And I’m not bullying. Sorry. I thought it was a stupid concept. She is a good writer and her characters were well fleshed out.
I am not— I repeat— NOT insulting her writing style. Just romanticizing a rapist and defending his actions. Sorry but no.
I’m not going to write a fucking tumblr essay, which is what this is turning into. I’m going to talk about it with my friends. As I can and should.
This was one of the worst things I have heard coming from this fandom— INCLUDING people saying Sansa or other female characters should be raped. She can have her own opinions but I can make fun of them. Welcome to fandom.

Well, woo hoo. Let’s give you the Nobel Peace Prize for not using gifs or tags. This makes up for the fact that you believe being part of a fandom gives you the right to bully someone. That’s what you guys did. You bullied.
And talking about it with your friends can be done in a variety of instant messagers or in your asks. You did it publicly. And after this people did go flood her blog with nasty comments, so you’re a fool or a liar.
Again, having a tantrum does not fix rape culture. But you keep on keepin’ on. Let me know how that goes.
My empathy, honor, and ability to understand how the world and the people in it work, and I will be sitting over here.
